First Cousins who descended from William Horney, PA: Christal Etzkorn, Isaac Van Wart Chapter; Kelli Wooddell, Isaac Van Wart Chapter Prospective Member; and Angela Herron, Fort GreeneVille Chapter all met recently at a local restaurant where Kelli signed her application to join the NSDAR, Isaac Van Wart Chapter. Chapter registrar Mickey McConahay provided the paperwork necessary. Cousin Angela surprised Kelli and came for this special event.

Christal explained that she and her sister Mindy (absent) joined the NSDAR together in 2023 using their Great-Great Grandmother’s application information. Her name was Lucy (Blessing) McKillip, and her father William Blessing invented the corn planter. Lucy was a founding member of the William Horney DAR Chapter in Jeffersonville, OH which has now disbanded. Angela joined in 2025.

Christal, Mindy, and Angela took their research further, learning lineage in the same line that led them to joining The General Society of Mayflower Descendants in Columbus.

The ladies all agree that a trip to their patriot’s grave is in order. William Horney is interred in Ohio. A member submitted this photograph.
