Dolls and Happy Birthday to our Chapter

At a recent IVW DAR Chapter meeting, Lisa Weaver was the guest speaker, sharing her program of Dolls over Time and collecting. Her program was very interesting. She brought a big display of her collection to share, and she knew so much about each one’s history. Each member could relate!

Following Lisa, member Mickey McConahay took the chapter through 115 years of being chartered as the Isaac Van Wart Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Happy Birthday IVW-DAR! Some of the members, like Mickey, have been in DAR since the age of 18. Highlights over the years include: parades; re-enactments; placement of the DAR flagpole with the DAR bronze marker at Veteran’s Park; raising that flag until a permanent light was installed; and many fun outings to visit Veterans and teach our youth about patriotism.
