The Isaac Van Wart Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), welcomes you!

The Isaac Van Wart Chapter, NSDAR, chartered in 1911, is a chapter of the NSDAR located in Van Wert, Ohio. As direct descendants of Patriots who took part in the American Revolutionary War, we take great pride in sharing our history. Isaac Van Wart is our Patriot and the volunteer militiaman for whom our town and county are named.

We are so proud that he and two others captured the British spy Major John Andre and secured documents that directly led to the capture of the traitor Benedict Arnold. Without Isaac Van Wart, the outcome of the American Revolutionary War would have been so different. As an honor to him, the county and village of Van Wert were named with a typographical error made by a government clerk.
